Inscription.
One of the oldest buildings in town, Mr. Carl McCurry opened his shop in 1929 with the mindset that every man in Toccoa deserves to dress up. This storefront is unique in that it was constructed with large separate bay windows. Ms. Phyllis Skelton has owned this building for many years.

Also see . . .  Historic Plaque Program. Main Street Toccoa website entry:
Mr. McCurry treated his customers as if they were his own family members and went above and beyond to serve his clients, as he often allowed customers to pay with store credit. He would even help Acree Davis at the funeral home at times if someone was to be buried without a suit and tie. Carl McCurry’s Men’s Shop is an important location in the history of Toccoa’s beautiful downtown atmosphere and a callback to times when dressing up was the norm and not the exception, and when caring for one’s customers included treating them like family.
