1. Holly Stoll / Hallie Garwood Marker
Inscription.
Holly Leroy Stoll was born in Tompkins County, New York to alcoholic parents. He and his younger sister Marie were removed from that home after an uncle reported their neglect. Marie was placed with a grandmother and Holly was put in an orphanage. In October of 1911 he boarded a train to Clyde, Kan. He was placed in the loving home of Bardy and Linda Garwood. They changed his name to Hallie. The Garwoods treated Hallie as their own, even going so far as to try and get custody of Hallie’s little sister Marie. Hallie learned farming from Bardy and took over the farming and trucking operations in 1941 when Bardy passed away. Hallie married Ellen McDonough and they were the parents of three children.

Bardy was patient and loving with Hallie as he taught him about the farm animals and how to run a farm. Hallie loved school and did well. He attended Clyde High School, but quit before graduation to help Bardy run the farm and he started a trucking business of his own. Hallie remained in contact with his sister and his Uncle George exchanged
