1. 10th and Jackson Marker

Inscription. The drinking establishment on this corner was built by Jacob Ahrens in 1889 and sold to the Bartl Brew House in 1890. Henry Appel sold the grocery and saloon he built in 1885 on the opposite corner at 1002 Jackson Street to the Heileman Brewing Co. in 1896.

Erected 1999 by the City of La Crosse, the City's Historic Preservation Commission and the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. (Marker Number 8.)
