1. First Presbyterian Church Bell Marker
Inscription. Founded in 1836, the First Presbyterian Church was part of the Columbus Grove community for 175 years. Originally called Truro Church, it was located on land donated by the William and Adam Turner families where Truro Cemetery is now located. This bell was the first church bell in the community when it was installed in their first building in town in 1851. When president Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, the bell was tolled 100 times, causing it to be damaged and in need of repair. When the church built a new building in 1901, the bell was repaired and placed in the bell tower where it continued to ring until 2016.
