1. William S. Dunbar Marker
Inscription. Born in 1823, he moved to Raleigh County in the 1850s where he was a carpenter. A staunch Unionist during the Civil War, he served in the 7th WV Cavalry until discharged due to ill health. Elected to the House of Delegates in 1863, Dunbar also served a 2-year term in the State Senate, 1864-65. He died in 1898 and is buried in the Dunbar Cemetery near Clear Creek.
