Years in MLB: 1985-1998 29 Vince Coleman is a former Major League Baseball All-Star. Coleman played for the Macon Redbirds (St. Louis affiliate) during the 1983 season. After one year in Macon, Coleman moved up to the Major League level, making his MLB debut on April 18th, 1985. Coleman would go on to be known as one of the greatest base stealers in Major League Baseball history. Coleman started his career with the Cardinals, but also played with the Tigers, Mets, Royals, Mariners and the Reds. During his very successful career, Coleman would earn the 1985 NL Rookie of the Year, two All-Star appearances, and be the NL stolen base leader for six straight years (1985-1990). Coleman is 3rd all-time in career stolen bases and broke the Minor League Baseball single-season stolen base record by stealing 145 bases while in Macon.
