Hometown: Macon, Georgia Years in MLB: 1964-1976. John “Blue Moon” Odom is a Macon native and attended Ballard Hudson High School where he won two state championships and threw eight no-hitters, His professional baseball debut was at Luther Williams Field, where it would see its largest crowd of all-time, over 7,000 fans. Odom was one of the star pitchers for the Oakland A's. While pitching in Oakland, the team won the World Series three straight years (1972-1974). Along with his success with the A's, Odom would appear in two different All-Star games (1968 and 1969). Odom also would go onto have three different seasons with 15+ wins. Odom, to this day, still has one of the lowest World Series ERA's in Major League Baseball history. Odom would end up playing for the Indians, Braves and the White Sox before retiring in 1976.,
