Year Played in Macon: 1963 Years in MLB: 1964-1986. Tony Perez was elected to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Perez played in Macon for the Macon Peaches (Cincinnati affiliate) during the 1963 season. After one year in Macon, Perez moved up to the Major League level. Perez would go on to be known as one of the bigger names in the Reds' “Big Red Machine”. He started and finished his playing career with the Reds, but also played stints with the Expos and Red Sox. During his very successful career, Perez would acquire three World Series Championships (1975, 1976, 1990) and seven different All-Star appearances. Perez also was the General Manager of the Reds in 1993 and then the Florida Marlins in 2001. The Marlins would go on to win a World Series Championship in 2003, while he was part of the front office.,
