1. Old Jail Museum.
The Old Jail Museum & Archives is housed in the old Lamar County Jail building. This building, completed in 1938, was a WPA structure. The sheriff and his family lived downstairs and the inmates were housed upstairs in cells. This building was used for inmates until 1992 when a new Detention Center was completed.

2. Old Jail Museum and Archives (Old Lamar County Jail)
Located in the Old Jail behind the Lamar County Courthouse in Barnesville, the Museum is filled with artifacts from the past. Some of the valuable collections and resources on location are abstracts of census records, original newspapers, obituaries, and probate records for the Lamar, Monroe and Pike County areas. The Museum also has many personal histories and photos. The museum keeps a very large data base of genealogical and historical information and adds to it regularly.
