1. Flagpole History Marker

Inscription. 1858-1868, The flagpole was believed to be erected at the Avenue House, a local hotel and tavern, at the NW corner of what is now Seymour (2nd St.) and Vine (Hamilton St.). It was founded in 1858 by a German immigrant, H.H. Lammers.

1969, The Sun Oil Company purchased the property for a gas station. The Civic League petitioned the City of Cincinnati for the ownership and the transfer was granted. The Sun Oil Company paid to have the flagpole moved and erected at 7011 Vine Street.

1970, June 14th. The community celebrated their new/old flagpole.

1982, May 12th. It became a Cincinnati Neighborhood Landmark, Cincinnati's smallest historical landmark.

2008, June 14th. The flagpole restored was rededicated.
