Inscription. This marker commemorates and gives directions to the Ravinia Consolidated School site and memorial Ό mile south on County Highway 21 in Ravinia.

The school operated from 1917-1967 when reorganization dissolved the district. During this period 560 students graduated from this school with many more attending but not graduating due to closing.

The first School of Ravinia was established October 1910 when Ravinia was one year old with 34 pupils enrolled. In 1913 an election passed to build a four room brick school costing $7,500 which opened in February 1914. This school burned to the ground on December 21, 1916. The school year was completed in various buildings in town.

An election was held on April 12, 1917 to consolidate Ravinia and Plain Center Townships passing unanimously. A new three story brick school costing $50,000 was constructed. Buses were purchased to transport rural students. In 1918 Highland District No. 5 and White Swan Townships were voted into the Ravinia Consolidated District having an enrollment of over 200 students.

A school paper, "Our Consolidated School", Vote No! was printed in June 1918 later changed to the Ainivar. The school annual was named "Bruian".

The first High School class of two students graduated in 1919.
