Blandwood is a building of national significance by one of the mid-nineteenth century's foremost architects, Alexander Jackson Davis. Its elegant design, alone, would make it an exceptional treasure; but, it features two additional characteristics. Blandwood is America's earliest surviving example of the Italian villa style. … Blandwood was also an influential prototype of the Italian villa style.

2. Blandwood Marker
The house was designed by Alexander Jackson Davis in 1844 and included two dependencies, one a law office and the other a kitchen, connected by alcoves. A later owner demolished the dependencies; they were reconstructed after the house was saved from demolition in 1964.
