1. Western Speedway Marker
Inscription. Fans of all ages have enjoyed the thrill of auto racing here since 1954, when A.J. Cottyn opened the speedway as a half-mile dirt track. In 1982 local businessman Frank Wille took ownership securing its status as the longest operating speedway in Western Canada. It is also home to the Victoria Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
 
Erected 2017 by Province of British Columbia.

Regarding Western Speedway. The raceway, now called Westshore Speedway, is scheduled to be closed in late 2022 and relocated elsewhere. Redevelopment plans for the old speedway site include a business park, approximately 50 houses and green space.
