With 11 charter members, Ocala’s First Presbyterian Church was organized as a Home Mission church in the summer of 1857 by the Presbytery of Florida, then a part of the Synod of Georgia. For 27 years, Stated Supply ministers served the church occasionally until we received our first regularly installed pastor in 1884. Our 40-member church erected the first church building in 1887 at a cost of $2,500 plus $800 for the lot. It sat 300 people. On June 10, 1928, we celebrated the formal opening of the present church building.(Submitted on January 3, 2022, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)
