With 11 charter members, Ocala’s First Presbyterian Church was organized as a Home Mission church in the summer of 1857 by the Presbytery of Florida, then a part of the Synod of Georgia. For 27 years, Stated Supply ministers served the church occasionally until we received our first regularly installed pastor in 1884. Our 40-member church erected the first church building in 1887 at a cost of $2,500 plus $800 for the lot. It sat 300 people. On June 10, 1928, we celebrated the formal opening of the present church building.
