Arriving in 1900, Marcus Frank and his mother, Julia Frank (Handelsman), not only followed economic opportunity, but sought to leave behind a few chaotic years in West Palm Beach. Marcus Frank opened “Frank’s Variety Store” in 1930 and became a local pioneer in advertising when he ran the first-ever full-page ad in a Florida newspaper.
