Inscription.
This building was built in 1885, and contains Ocala’s first elevator. Originally there was a drug store on the first floor, offices on the second floor, and an Opera House on the top floor with seating for 900 people.

Erected in 1885 following a Thanksgiving Day fire that destroyed the downtown business district. It originally housed the county’s first Opera House and its first mechanical Elevator. Renovated by William B. Scheel & Louis Saig in 1995.
