From the NRHP nomination: After the bank moved, this building housed the Harlan Office and Abstract building and later the Ouren Abstract and Real Estate Company. The basement historically housed the Pickard and Shepherd Land, Loan and Abstract Office (c. 1895), with a doctor's office on the second floor.

1. Shelby County Bank Building.
The eye-catching feature of this two-story commercial block on a raised basement is the dramatic round tower on the second floor. This corner bay tower culminates in a pointed domed roof and is Queen Anne in flavor, but the building itself, with its arched openings, is mildly Richardsonian Romanesque in its presentation.
