Swartzlander's Café moved to this address in 1929 from its previous location on the south side of the square. In 1935 Swartzlander retired and sold the business to Mr. Burkey who continued the food and beverage business as well as ran the Union Bus Depot from this location until 1944. The restaurant continued on after changing its name to Shannon's Café and remained open for another 30 years.
The property became vacant in 1975 but became a temporary home to the People's Company Farm Management of Indianola in 1976. After nearly two more years of vacancy the property merged back with 110 North Howard to become a
Erected by Warren County Philanthropic Partnership; Girl Scouts Troop 225; and Victoria's Boutique. (Marker Number 1213-B.)
