Inscription. This building was constructed in 1915 by Sam Cheshire. It was home to his fashionable men's clothing store for only four years before he sold it to People's Trust and Savings Bank on January 21, 1919. In June, 1936, the bank purchased the alley and half of the wall of the Barker Building to the south which allowed the bank to widen its building by 12 feet. Further expansions were made to the south in the late 1950's and to the north in 1968 making the 114 address no longer in existence today.

After 75 years of business, the People's Bank closed its doors for the last time in 1994. Following in the tradition, Homeland Bank, Magna Bank and the Union Planter's Bank each resided at this location. The most recent resident — Regions Bank, who bought out Union Planter's Bank, opened its doors in 2006 and continues to thrive as of the creation of this plaque.

Erected by Warren County Philanthropic Partnership; Girl Scouts Troop 225; and Regions Bank. (Marker Number 1212-A.)
