Inscription. In September 1900, Messrs. Meek and Robertson finished construction and moved into this building. Together their haberdashery business enjoyed a long success until Mr. Robertson's retirement in 1923. The store remained open under the Meek name but was managed by F. H. Eckert until 1926 when Mr. Eckert bought the business and moved to the end of the block.

From 1926 to 1948 the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, more popularly known as the A&P, lived here. The building remained a grocery store under the name The People's Market until Dr. Carl Lundahl opened a chiropractic clinic in 1956. His clinic served Indianola patients for 17 years until 1972. After a brief vacancy, Hogan's Sporting Goods opened in 1974 but lasted only three years.

After Hogan's closed, the Meek building became home to De Vore's Guitar Center for 24 years. The name of the store changed in 2000 and became known as Last Chance Guitars. In 2003 the business expanded its inventory and became Rusty's Music and Skate Center which remains open today.

Erected by Warren County Philanthropic Partnership; Girl Scouts Troop 225; and Pete's Pizza. (Marker Number 1209.)
