Inscription. To Commemorate completion of 4th Railroad in California – Marysville to Oroville, by California Northern Railroad, later the Southern Pacific Co. 1st passenger train February 9 – 1864. Also marks site of Middletown 1854 – 1856.

Erected 1950 by Native Sons of the Golden West & Native Daughters of the Golden West.
