Regarding 2nd Lt. T.I. "Billy" Hawkins, Jr.. He was killed when his B-24 bomber was shot down over France. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
