Cartersville in Bartow County, Georgia — The American South (South Atlantic)
Asa Griggs Candler
He slept in the back room of the pharmacy and attended the Hillyer Male School where he studied Greek, Latin, and Chemistry. He eventually met and married Lucy E. Howard, a Bartow County resident, whose father gave Asa his first pharmacy job.
His career took him to Atlanta, where he purchased his first pharmacy. He then bought a controlling interest in the rising carbonated soft drink beverage called French Cherry Wine Cola from Dr. Pemberton. The beverage under his genius became the world's leading soft-drink product and most recognizable business logo.
