Declaration of Friendship. Tahara City, Japan and Princeton, Indiana. , WHEREAS, the citizens of the City/County of Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana, USA and Tahara-cho, Japan do mutually agree to establish a Friendship city/county affiliation to deepen the friendship and confidence between our countries and to develop a permanent relationship; and , WHEREAS, the purpose of this relationship is to further friendship and to contribute to each city/country's development and the peace of the world by exchanging education and culture, industry and economy, children's and students' works, and individuals who are interested in learning and sharing with a country enjoying a different lifestyle and environment. , NOW, THEREFORE, each city/county, Princeton/Gibson County and Tahara-cho, in the spirit of Friendship Cities/County, , DO BELIEVE that this friendship pact will allow, through mutual consultations, the establishment of new and common relationships with other cities in the world in order to create a peace culture among the peoples of all continents, , DO ASSURE mutual support to the "Friendship Committee" for organizing and developing the experiences and common activities of the Friendship cities/county relationship, on the basis of the directions set by this declaration and of the yearly program that will be established between each city/county, , DO PROCLAIM that the cities/county of Princeton/Gibson County and Tahara-cho intend in this way to give their contribution to the cause of world peace and to the development of friendly relations between the peoples of United States of America and Japan. , Today, August 8, 2002, in the City of Princeton, Indiana, USA we the mayors and county commissioner of Princeton, Gibson County, and Tahara-cho, on behalf of each community affix our signatures. , Shirley Robb, Mayor of Princeton , Linda K.
