Regarding The Culver Hotel. Built by Harry Culver, the founder of Culver City, and opened on September 4, 1924, the six-story Renaissance Revival building was designed by Curlett & Beelman, the architecture firm behind the Roosevelt and the Eastern Columbia buildings in downtown Los Angeles. The Culver Hotel is next door to the historic Culver Studios and a few blocks from MGM Studios. Guests included Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Judy Garland, Joan Crawford, Lana Turner, Buster Keaton, Douglas Fairbanks, Frank Sinatra, Ronald Reagan, the cast of Gone With the Wind, and one hundred Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz.
