Born in Carmel, CA, son of military family played for Taiwan in the Little League World Series. Drafted by Kansas City, the left-handed hurler was traded to Giants in 1982. His 2.25 ERA was tops in NL in 1983, and he struck out 14 batters vs. Astros (Candlestick Park, September 11, 1983). He posted a career ERA of 3.51 in nine seasons with Giants.

"Charlton Atlee Hammaker (born January 24, 1958) is a former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher who played the majority of his career for the San Francisco Giants (1982–1990). He also played for the Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, and Chicago White Sox.
