Chamber Celebrates Centennial
1907-2007
A trio of children at play cowgirl, skier, and, miner are the triad of our ranching, skiing, and mining heritage.
Illustrated by Susan Gill Jackson and sculpted by Sandra Graves, both local artists, the art is a gift to the Steamboat Springs community from the businesses that have and will continue to serve as the foundation of the economic well being of the city. Playful and interactive, the sculpture celebrates the 100 year legacy of the Chamber and the history of Steamboat Springs.
1907: With a mission to attract tourists and settlers to Northwest Colorado, the Steamboat Springs Commercial Club is founded in the community.
1941: Commercial Club renames itself Chamber of Commerce of Steamboat Springs, collects dues, and plans for a summer visitor information booth.
1959: Chamber membership reaches 15 committees and 167 members out of a possible 199 businesses.
1984: "Steamboat in the Summertime" campaign begins with help from the Chamber's Summer Marketing Task Force and funding.
1992: Leadership Steamboat graduates its first class.
1993: Chamber moves to Visitor Center at Angler's Drive and U.S. 40 from facilities at Casey's Pond and log building at 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue downtown.
2007: Chamber celebrates its 100 year

Established as the Commercial Club of Steamboat Springs in 1907, the Steamboat Springs Chamber provides support for local businesses and economic development for the City of Steamboat Springs as well as surrounding communities in the Yampa Valley.
