Extreme Country!
Australia's climate and landscape varies widely. There are rainforest and vast plains in the north, snowfields in the southeast, desert in the center and fertile croplands in the east, south and southwest parts of the country. Because of its abundant physical resources, Australia has been able to enjoy a high standard of living since the 19th century.
This country is also very culturally diverse. Making Australia their home are settlers from around the world as well as natives, who live in cities or may choose to live a more traditional way of life in rural and remote areas.
Uniquely Theirs…
Being an isolated island allows Australia to lay claim to unique plants and animals. This country is well known for its marsupials (mammals with a pouch) like kangaroos and koalas. It is home to the only egg-laying mammals, the platypus and spiny anteater.
Of 700 bird species in Australia, 400 (including Emus) are found no where else in the world. As well, the Sydney Funnel Web Spider, Box Jelly Fish, and Inland Taipan Snake, all of whom call Australia home, are some of the world's deadliest animals
