1. The Twillman House Marker

The Twillman House was described in 1911 as "one of the most imposing and beautiful country homes in this section." German immigrant Johann Heinrich Twillman (1827-1882) built the house of handmade brick in 1870 on 370 acres of farmland. The one-story wing was added after 1945, when the family sold the house and it became a well-known restaurant. The Spanish Lake Community Association acquired the house in 2005. It is now the Spanish Lake Community Center.
