Louis Kisber and his brothers-in-law, Alex and Ben Frank, began their business in the early 1900s. By the 1920s Kisber was sole owner and the name had changed to Kisber's Department Store. When the store closed in 1991, it was believed to be the last family-owned department store in Tennessee.
