1. Town of Gunter, on Old Gunter Ranch Marker
Inscription. Established 1880's by Jot Gunter, developer of Texas real estate, prominent Grayson County businessman. In mid-1890's his ranch exceeded 20,000 acres. Gunter, born in North Carolina in 1845, came to Texas to practice law after he served in Confederate Army. The town of Gunter incorporated in 1914, was named for him.
 
Erected 1968 by State Historical Survey Committee. (Marker Number 7379.)

Location. 33° 27.169′ N, 96° 46.166′ W. Marker is near Gunter, Texas, in Grayson County. It is on West Main Street (Farm to Market Road 121) 1½ miles west of Preston Road (State Highway 289), on the right when traveling west. The marker is located along the highway at a small pullout.
