1. World War I Marker
Inscription.  World War I was started by Germany over economic and imperialistic rivalries set in motion by the expansion of British, German and Russian empires. On August 1, 1914 Germany declared war on Russia, Britain declared war on Germany on August 4, 1914 followed by adjoining countries. The United States entered the war on April 6, 1917. Germany surrendered on November 4, 1918, there were 53,513 Americans KIA, 63,195 non combat casualties and 204,002 WIA. This war to end all wars did not accomplish its goal. Estimated cost of war $18.676.000.000.
