First Baptist Church
circa - 1910
This is a 1910 view of the Bellingham Baptist Church and Civil War Monument. The Church is the oldest in Bellingham and was built in 1826. The bell in the steeple was purchased and cast by G.H. Holbrook of East Medway in 1833. The War Monument was erected in 1874 and still stands today at the intersection of Mechanic Street and South Main Street. In front of the War Monument is a water trough. It is inscribed with the words "Blessed are the Merciful".
