1. The Temagami Station Marker
Inscription.  In 1902, The Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway Act was given Royal Assent and construction of the railway, now operated by the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission began. By 1904 the line which was 1o link North Bay and New Liskeard had reached Temagami. A wooden frame train station was erected here to serve as a restaurant and a rail depot. Recognizing the tourist potential of the Temagami area, officials soon decided that an artistically modern station was warranted. Early in 1907 a new station of boulder masonry on a concrete basement with a red tile roof was completed. Destroyed by fire in 1908, it was rebuilt within a year. Though the tile roof was replaced by shingles in 1943 and an internal fire destroyed the original oak panelling and cathedral ceiling in 1976, the station remains little altered.
