Regarding Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Excerpt from the National Register nomination:
The Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church was built in 1899. The church was formed in 1868 by the union of the Hebron and Silver Creek Churches. The history of these groups goes back to 1809 when the Cumberland congregations were first organized ir Tennessee. The land on the hillside overlooking Fountain Creek Mill was donated by Mr. Thomas Whitaker and the first church was built where the present church stands in 1868. This church derives its name from the serene rural setting.
