Inscription. In 2015 Gerald and Joyce Wehner graciously donated to the Oak Harbor Log Cabin Committee the school bell placed here at Adolphus Kraemer Park. The bell originated from the bell tower of Blackberry School, Township District #9. This school existed from 1906-1938 and was located at the present site of Blackberry Corners Tavern on the corner of Route 579 and Elliston-Trowbridge Road. It was rung to call the students into the school in the morning, at the end of lunch, and at dismissal, Often older boys were given the privilege of ringing the bell for the teacher.
