1. Fire Hall No. 6 Marker
Inscription.
The 1909 Strathcona City Council had to make a decision. Where do they house the volunteer fire department? After much spirited debate they decided that the old fire hall was not worth repairing and a new one should be built. The citizens agreed. In a plebiscite they voted 203 to 26 to build a new hall. When Strathcona amalgamated with Edmonton in 1912, this building became Fire Hall No. 6 in the new all-professional fire department of the expanded city.

In 1974, Fire Hall No. 6 became the home of Walterdale Theatre, one of the city's oldest amateur drama groups. The tower still house the original bell.

Fire Hall No. 6 was designated a Registered Historic Site on 14 July 1976, by the Hon. Horst A. Schmid, Minister of Culture.

Erected by The Province of Alberta.
