Inscription. Memorial Park Neighborhood Association lasting legacy for the Fort Wayne bicentennial celebration
August 1994

A Memorial Tribute to Past, Present and Future Veterans of Allen County, Indiana

In this monument, during this the Bicentennial Year of the founding of the City of Fort Wayne, we, her citizens, in a symbolic, but visibly lasting manner, celebrate the sacrifices and labors of all men and women from Allen County who honorably have dawned the garb of our nation's military services. Supreme sacrifices of life were made by some, while others lost limbs, minds and families. The living and the dead have dwelled on secure shores and have been sheltered from the storms of war and its winds of destruction, because of these brave soldiers of America's fortunes. The unborn will inherit the same because of the continuing sacrifice. The fighting for freedom's cause has been just and the noble sacrifices have been the highest expressions of human service. Alas, these deeds are hallowed. Inasmuch, we pledge our allegiance to not allow these sacrifices to have been in vain for a people that God has called and a land that He has blessed.
