The United States Air Force is the aerial and space warfare branch of the United States Armed Forces. The Air Force is the youngest branch of the United States Military and was officially established under the National Security Act of 1947 but was originally a division in the Army known as the Aeronautical Division of the Army Signal Corps. The Air Force is responsible for military air and space operations.
