He served his country honorably in World War II.

After his military service, he diligently served his fellow veterans as the Veterans Service Officer for the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, covering Tift, Turner, Ben Hill, Irwin and Worth counties. He later became Area Supervisor over 21 South Georgia offices, retiring after 34 years service. Following his retirement, he served on the State Veterans Service Board until his death.

”Bubba” was very active with the American Legion, holding various post, district and department offices and serving on the National Commission for Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation.

He is remembered as a dedicated, able and active servant for all veterans.
