1. Georgia Northern Railway Locomotive 105 Marker
Inscription.
This locomotive, with first all welded type tender built in United States, was given City of Moultrie by the Georgia Northern Railway Company on February 26, 1963, marking 70th anniversary of first locomotive to steam into Moultrie.

1. Georgia Northern Railway Locomotive 105. RGUSRail website entry:
A Mikado type (2-8-2) locomotive, #105 was built for the Georgia Northern Railway as "W. L. Joiner", by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1929. #105 weighs 184,000 lbs., 136,000 lbs. on its 57” drivers. The tender weighs 141,000 lbs light and has a capacity of 7,000 gallons of water and 12 tons of coal.

2. Georgia Northern Railway. Hawkins Rails website entry:
In the early 1890s, a small logging railroad ran from the community of Pidcock, Georgia, where it connected to the Savannah, Florida, & Western Railway, northward to a sawmill owned by the Quitman Lumber Company. The line was reorganized in 1891 as the Boston & Albany Railroad of Georgia, which extended the road as far as Moultrie. In 1895, the Pidcock family of Moultrie purchased the line and reorganized it as the Georgia Northern Railway.

2. Georgia Northern Railway Locomotive 105 Marker
(marker is inside the exhibit fence, in front of the locomotive)
and Gulf Railroad in 1939. The coterie of roads became known as the Pidcock Kingdom shortlines in Sowega. It was eventually merged into the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway on December 31, 1993.
