1. The Bell Marker
Copperopolis Elementary School opened in 1865, and currently serves the community of Copperopolis, the Diamond XX area, and the areas in and around Lake Tulloch. The school now serves 230 students in grades kindergarten through six.
Inscription.
[Displayed at the Copperopolis Elementary School are a bell and a cannon along with their accompanying markers:]

The Bell
This bell cast in 1860, the first school in Copperopolis in 1862. The bell yoke shows repair, break probably from school fire of 1906.

The Cannon
Six pound cannon cast by Cyruss Alger & Co. in 1837. Probably came from an abandoned ship in San Francisco. Presented to the Union Guard by citizens of Copperopolis. Fired at funerals and on holidays until the early 1900’s.
