Towler Hall
A gift from the Class of 1950 and others in honor of Rev. Daniel "Deacon Dan" L. Towler '50. The Members members of the Class of 1950 presented their gifts on the occasion of their 50th reunion in the year 2000.
Dan Towler, a native of Donora, Pennsylvania, graduated Cum Laude from W&J in 1950 where he also earned Little All-American Honors. In 1948, he led the nation in scoring. In 1950, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams where he was a four-time All Pro fullback. Deacon Dan gained 3,493 yards in 672 carries during his six years with the Rams and was named Pro Bowl Player of the Game in 1952.
Dan left the Rams in 1955 after earning a Master's degree in Theology and became a minister at the United Methodist Church in Pasadena. He later earned a Doctorate in Education and continued his ministry along with multiple other community leadership roles.
Dan Towler was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on November 11, 2000, and into the W&J Hall of Fame on August 9, 1999. Sadly, Dan died on August 1, 2001, before this facility was officially dedicated. W&J and the Class of 1950 honor his gifted life and career.
