Inscription.
A memorial service was held at this spot for Lt. Eugene Bernard, of Kansas City, Kansas on the 65th anniversary of his tragic death, (6 PM Oct. 31, 1952) when his Navy Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat Fighter crashed a quarter mile south of this village. He was ferrying the plane from Norfolk, VA to Niagara Falls.
