1. Town Hall Marker
Inscription. In 1891, after the frame town hall on this site burned, Town Council ran a competition for the design of the new town hall. Toronto architect G.W. Gouinlock's plans for a Richardson Romanesque building were chosen.

The structure, of St. Marys limestone and red sandstone, was completed June, 1892, at a cost of about $15,000. Contractors were local craftsmen John Elliott (masonry), Jacob Near (carpentry), John Willard (painting and glazing), and J.C. Gilpin (galvanized iron).
