Lone Mountain in San Francisco City and County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
Dante Benedetti
His family restaurant New Pisa, generously sponsored countless numbers of youth and adult league baseball teams in the city. The interaction of the people playing baseball enriched San Francisco society. Players like the DiMaggio brothers and many others were a product of his teams.
Dante also was the varsity baseball coach at his beloved University of San Francisco. He held that position for 17 years and took a salary of $1 per year. At USF he demonstrated his knowledge, leadership, generosity, kindness, passion, and the love that he gave unconditionally to his players and the people who knew him.
After reading this plaque I am asking you to change your definition of hero to Benedetti.
The voice of Dante's Boys and the community of North Beach and San Francisco.
