Merchant Marine Veterans of World War II
There were 243,000 volunteer seamen that served their country. More than 6,000 Merchant Marines made the supreme sacrifice during World War II. Over 600 were held as Prisoners of War. A total of 733 Merchant ships were sunk. We delivered the troops, fuel, tanks, medical supplies, and everything needed at the front line and beyond.
