Dean Albany co-founded the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League in 2005, giving the league instant credibility with college coaches and major league scouts. As a coach of Youse's Orioles, Dean's teams won six All-American Amateur Baseball Association (AAABA) World Series titles. As a player, Dean led his Brooklyn Park High School to the Maryland State Championship in 1980 and was named The Baltimore Sun All-Metro Player of the Year in 1981. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft as a pitcher, but suffered a career ending arm injury. He has helped Baltimore RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) grow. In 2015, he was inducted into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame. Dean is a Special Assignment Scout with the Baltimore Orioles.
