Dick O'Connor founded Maryland Community Baseball, Inc. in 2000 with a mission to promote youth baseball in Silver Spring in Takoma Park. He is the founder of the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts and spearheaded the campaign to renovate Blair Stadium in 2002. In 2005, he played a leadership role in establishing the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. For more than two decades, Dick has devoted countless volunteer hours to provide "Big League Dreams and Small Town Charm" for Thunderbolt players and fans. He has organized yearly summer camps and free baseball clinics in the community. Dick has been a staunch advocate for the values of community service and good sportsmanship in youth baseball. He has worked as an environmental trial attorney for more than three decades and lives with his wife in Takoma Park.
