Las Fábricas Universales
“La casa de novedades más elegante de México”
Edificado en 1909 en la esquina de San Bernardo y Monterilla (Hoy V. Carranza y 5 de Febrero), el Gran Almacén de Novedades, bautizado como "Las Fabricas Universales” fue fundado por el Industrial y negociante francés Alexandre Reynaud (1840-1913), oriundo de Valle de Barcelonnette (Alpes de Alta Provenza, Francia).

El proyecto original, del arquitecto parisino Eugène Ewald (1850-1924) emparentado con la familia Gassier-Reynaud, fue realizado por el Ingeniero mexicano Miguel Angel de Quevedo (1859-1946).

El edificio, de estilo "Art Nouveau", es original. Las cerámicas de la fachada fueron importadas de la Casa "Gentil & Bourdet", Boulogne-Billancourt, en Paris.

Este lugar histórico forma parte del patrimonio arquitectónico del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, vinculado con los Empresarios Barcelonnettes en México (1850-1950).

La presente Placa fue inaugurada por los descendientes de las familias Gassier – Reynaud al 31 de Octubre 2016.

Carranza et 5 de febrero), le grand magasin de nouveautés, baptisé "Las Fabricas Universales" a été commandité par l'industriel et négociant francais Alexandre Reynaud (1840-1913), originaire dela Vallée de Barcelonnette (Alpes de Haute Provence, France).

Dessiné par l'architecte parisien Eugène Ewald (1850-1924) lié à la famille Gassier-Reynaud, sa construction a été confiée à l'ingénieur mexicain Miguel Angel de Quevedo (1859-1946).

L'Edifice de style "Art Nouveau" est d'origine. Le décor de céramiques de la façade provient de la Maison "Gentil & Bourdet", Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris.

Il est l'un des fleurons du patrimoine architectural du centre historique de la ville de Mexico, lié à l'épopée des entrepreneurs Barcelonnettes installés au Mexique (1850- 1950).

Cette plaque a été apposée par les descendants des familles Gassier-Reynaud le 31 Octobre 2016.

The original project, by the Parisian architect Eugène Ewald (1850-1924) related to the Gassier-Reynaud family, was carried out by the Mexican engineer Miguel Angel de Quevedo (1859-1946).

The building, in the "Art Nouveau" style, is original. The ceramics on the façade were imported from the House "Gentil & Bourdet", Boulogne-Billancourt, in Paris.

This historic place is part of the architectural heritage of the Historic Center of Mexico City, linked to the Barcelonnettes Entrepreneurs in Mexico (1850-1950).

This marker was inaugurated by the descendants of the Gassier – Reynaud families on October 31, 2016.
